Who is the CUTEST Ever?

I hate it when people gush about their babies, so don’t misinterpret the title of the post as gushing. It’s empirical fact. Just look:

100 Bottles of, Uh…

Colin’s taking a bottle pretty easily now. The nanny hadn’t been having much trouble, but after Grandma Reed was here, he’s a pro! He’s even grabbing at and “holding” his own bottle.

Here he is with Michelle, who’s also got him eating his yummy peas and carrots. This weekend: sweet potatoes.

Guess Who’s Getting His Second Tooth!

No, again NOT Matt. Colin! Yes, that’s right, he’s an overachiever and is getting not just one, but two teeth at the same time. Matt was feeling around in Colin’s mouth and thought, he can’t possibly be getting a tooth that big. I stuck my finger in and was able to confirm that yes, Colin is getting his two front bottom teeth at the same time. Needless to say he just woke up from his Tylenol induced sleep.

Guess Who Is Getting His First Tooth!

No, not Matt. Colin! Last night I had my finger in Colin’s mouth, because Colin has decided to prefer fingers to pacifiers, when all of sudden my finger felt something very sharp!

Grandma Reed and Daddy confirmed that there definitely was something there.

Of course this morning when I woke I checked again and for a moment it seemed as though the tooth disappeared back into his gums. However that is not the case, there’s definitely a tooth and as soon as it’s a bit more vid=

Colin decided to put his two cents into this post. Now where was I, oh right, once it’s more visible we will take a picture and post it.

Grandma Reed got in a little earlier than her planned 5pm arrival time—thanks Northwest! Colin has already been enjoying his time with her. We snapped a couple of pictures at the airport while waiting for Mary Ann’s bags.

Are YOU in Techno-Flux?

Although this article—which ran in the April 3rd issue of BrandWeek—is written about teenagers, I find that some of the trends it is talking about are apropos even to myself. Perhaps I’m just a media junkie by trade, but I’m curious who else is “down with the techno-flux”?!?! I’m certainly all about “brain-blur” and “dataddiction,” but I find I am not “chill-challenged” as much as time-challenged. My favorite saying of late is “what is it like to be bored?”

A Weekend of Firsts…

9. April 2006

Having a little guy who is nearly 5 months old living with you certainly predisposes one to having a “weekend of firsts,” but that doesn’t make them any less fun!

The first “first” doesn’t get a picture. We don’t want to get arrested—or have Colin hate us when he’s older—but let’s just say he “found” something for the first time this weekend. Something he normally can’t get to. Something he might find while taking a bath. It was really cute, because he was a little surprised when he found it.

Okay, he’s going to hate us anyway.

Next we had a beautiful Sunday here in Hoboken (not Jersey), so we took Colin to the baby park. He slept most of the time he was there, but when he woke up we put him in a swing! This is a pretty cute picture of him, and he even has a little bit of a smile, but I think it is safe to say he was underwhelmed by it all. Mostly he just seemed confused by why mommy and daddy were so excited and all he was doing was sitting there. A woman seated near us gave us the soundtrack for Colin’s thoughts, “mommy—why are you so far? why are you so close? why are you so far? why are you so close?”…

And then after we got home, had some din-din and mommy was off to run some errands, we started practicing sitting up. He had about 2-seconds of unsupported sitting on Friday, and then I think maybe 30 seconds on Saturday, but I had enough time earlier this evening to actually run and grab the camera and shoot a couple of photos. He was honest-to-goodness sitting there “driving” his toy (I had my own soundtrack for his thoughts this time, “hey dad—can I have the keys to the car?”) for maybe 5 minutes. It’s hard work for him, still. In some of the later photos his face is even blotchier from the exertion and he almost always ends his sessions with a pouting lower lip. But is still pretty incredible to watch him pick up steam on something new like this over the course of a single weekend!
