64 hours in Labor & Delivery
5 different IV “sites” (ouch!)
2 doses of Cervadil
35 hours on a Pitocin drip
5 nursing shift changes (thank you Cynthia and Cheryl!)
2 bowls of broth
8 buttered bagels (mostly for Matt)
2 movies (Incredible Hulk & Indiana Jones)
0 showers (and she still looked good!)
63 photos
3 unread magazines
2 aborted trips to the operating room
1 Epidural (that’s niiiiice)
and 2.5 hours of pushing (again with the “ouch!”)

All of that math adds up to 9.

9 pounds (4085 grams) and 21 inches of Colin. He’s perfect!

Almost There

So we are very nearly to the end of our pregnancy journey. As much as I think Colin would like to hang out inside his mom’s belly for as long as possible he’s getting so big I think it’s going to get as uncomfortable for him as it is for me.

I’m one week away from my due date as of today. We found out last week that Colin’s estimated weight is 9lbs 7oz. Keep in mind two things, babies can put on as much as a half a pound a week AND those ultrasound weight estimates can be off by 15%. So he’s a big boy, it’s just a matter now of finding out just HOW big he’s really going to be!

Here’s another belly picture so you can see just how much I’ve expanded and the sour look on my face is for all of you who think I’ve been looking too happy to deliver anytime soon.

It turns out they are giving away free land in Kansas. In a county called Ellsworth, no less.

I propose we all pull up our stakes and move there. It just makes sense.

[But, seriously, who knew they were still doing stuff like this? How bleak must a community's future be to try to pull people in with free land?] [Hmmm, what a 21st Century take on "free land"---one supposes the "Sooners" of yesteryear didn't think the future of Oklahoma was bleak...]

Another article about this free land phenomenon is here.

We are so pleased to have with us an official baby product tester. Tundra’s been going out of her way to make sure every nook and cranny of the baby gear is safe and reliable as witnessed in a photo of the stroller we got this week!

You probably do realize this means that not only did we get wheels for ourself this week, but for the baby as well!
