I don’t remember this from any of the Gospels, but we have photographic proof that there was a giant feline seated right outside the stable made famous by Mary and Joseph so many years ago. Take a look:
While not turning turning Christendom on its ear through photography, Deb and I had a great trip back to Michigan to celebrate the holidays. We did the round-robin visit where we spent several nights with my folks, and both of my brothers and their families. It was a great way to spend time with everyone in the family. It also meant we got to have Christmas three separate times!
One of the highlights—besides the big all-family Christmas gathering on Christmas Eve and “Bingo” with Uncle Norman and Aunt Mildred another night—was a visit from Spiderman. Who knew that he was real, either? The trip to Michigan revealed a lot of truths. In any case, this intrepid photographer caught the Spiderman visit on film in true Peter Parker fashion.

This trip also introduced us to Deb’s new favorite game: Munchkin. I actually really like it, too; but unlike Hand & Foot, I’d better be careful not to beat her too much so she will keep playing. Munchkin has about a thousand expansions (here and here, here, here, here, and here; here, too) so even though we just bought Munchkin 2, she still has conveniently provided you with birthday and holiday gift ideas for roughly the next decade.

I read about the 20 Questions website in an old copy of Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel (great magazine), but I didn’t play it until just now.
And I beat it on the first try.
Evidently, “laptop computer” is hard to guess.
Anyway, it’s interesting. Can YOU beat it? What was your item?

Turns out we’ve been getting attached by (multiple) Spam-bots lately. Kind of exciting. Makes one get an overly inflated sense of self. I mean, if “they” do this kind of stuff to Microsoft and Greenpeace, then our little ellsworthlink Blog is in rarefied company, don’t you think?
In any event, if you’ve been watching closely you may have noticed a bunch of random “people” popping up on the “Recent Comments” listing to the right. They’re all fake. And annoying.
I’ve read about several ways to defeat comment Spam—and then I promptly forgot where I read them since I figured we’d never get hit. Stupid. Foolish. Naive. Anyway, we’ll be changing things on the site sometime soon to fix the problem. I think all it will mean is a slightly different methodology to post a comment. No big whoop.
In other news: We got back Monday from a wonderful trip to Michigan visiting (mostly) family and (some) friends. I’m downloading the pictures as I type and will post the most embarrassing ones I can find of immediate family members. Probably nothing will be as bad as the famous “shooting picture,” but we’ll see what we can do. ![]()

Well, it’s been a long time since our last update, and I actually have a couple different things to mention.
First, we are headed to Eaton Rapids, MI for the holidays on Thursday. We are driving in our little Convertible Beetle and we are bringing the cats with us! It will be a 10.5 hour drive. We can’t wait to spend some quality time as a family in the car. Wish us luck!
Second, I found that after my radioactive iodine therapy for my thyroid I became very rapidly hypothyroid, which has the opposite symptoms of hyperthyroid. I ended up being really tired, I managed to sleep in past Matt on the weekends which is pretty much unheard of. I am already on my thyroid hormone replacement pills, so I am finally on my way towards normal. And by normal I mean purely in the thyroid hormone level way…
Third, I have made the decision to leave my job at Event 360 so that I can pursue a career in Nursing. I am really excited about the adventure I have decided to set out on. I am in the process of researching Nursing programs at the local colleges. I know, I know, I said I would NEVER go back to school, but I really couldn’t be more excited about this decision. In fact I am super impatient and want to get started NOW!
That is really about it for now.
Happy Holidays to Everyone!
