I think I’m going to keep Colin away from Calvin and Hobbes. The cool part about this one is that he rolled the balls all by himself. Our good friend Michele helped him start them and lift them up but this was mostly Colin’s handiwork.

Before heading over to a childrens museum in Lansing we stopped at clara’s which is a restaurant in an old train depot. We got to have lunch on a train. Colin was pretty excited.

We have had a busy Halloween and we haven’t even done the official Halloween trick or treating. Below are a few of our favorites so far and if you click on one of them you will be taken to flickr where you can see all of our Halloween pictures.

Included are pictures of pumpkin carving, Colin’s preschool Halloween parade and trick or treating around the Maplewood Village. Hannah had the most fun of everyone at the village and was crying when she realized we were leaving.

While reading a story Colin kept licking his pointer finger. I ask him why he kept licking his finger and he told me it was what I did.

Of course I use my licked finger to help me turn pages. Colin wasn’t using his licked finger for any thing.

Colin at the Zoo

Our local Turtle Back Zoo has a lovely aviary where the kids can feed the birds. Our recent visit there made Colin and I feel like Dr Doolittle since the birds readily sat on our sticks to eat and stayed a long time, even when other people were struggling to get a bird to come near them.

Vacation Bible School

Colin is spending the week at vacation bible school. They are doing Group’s Crocodile Dock program. Colin has been having a great time with the teachers and students. He loves the songs, has done some cool crafts and lots of dancing. At the end of every day they all gather and sing and dance and then the kids are invited to come up and tell everyone about when they have seen God. As I went to pick Colin up today I noticed he was in line to tell his experience, I was so excited to be able to hear it. He gets to the microphone and says “My mommy wouldn’t let me play games so I was going to give her a time out.” The pastor asked where god was and he said “I don’t know.” This story comes from this morning when he wanted to play with my iPhone and I wouldn’t let him and after several requests threatened a time out. Guess it made an impression on him…

Because we forgot to take pictures while Will and Joe were visiting we tried much harder to remember and do it while Jake and Zack were here visiting. This was taken right before they were about to head home. Hannah had a huge crying fit, so smiling wasn’t an option. Aren’t they just about the cutest kids you’ve ever seen?
