64 hours in Labor & Delivery
5 different IV “sites” (ouch!)
2 doses of Cervadil
35 hours on a Pitocin drip
5 nursing shift changes (thank you Cynthia and Cheryl!)
2 bowls of broth
8 buttered bagels (mostly for Matt)
2 movies (Incredible Hulk & Indiana Jones)
0 showers (and she still looked good!)
63 photos
3 unread magazines
2 aborted trips to the operating room
1 Epidural (that’s niiiiice)
and 2.5 hours of pushing (again with the “ouch!”)
All of that math adds up to 9.
9 pounds (4085 grams) and 21 inches of Colin. He’s perfect!

As I said in the “almost there” blog entry. I was not aware that we had football players in the family. Colin must be the first. What a beautiful baby and given to two wonderful parents to raise. I am sure he will be well taken care of as he grows up.

Hmmm, just how much did both his mom and dad weigh at birth? Deb was 9 lbs, 2 oz and Matt was over 10? I know someone will correct me if I’m wrong. He is absolutely beautiful, can’t wait to hug him in person.

Just goes to show you…if they aren’t ready to come out, they’re just not ready. Just God’s way, I suppose. He certainly is beautiful, isn’t he?

Matthew was 10 lb. 3 0z. However, he was only 20 inches and so was very pudgy. A side note: Matthew was exactly one pound heavier than my first baby, David, and 3 oz. heavier than his “little brother”, John Mark.
You are all correct that Colin is beautiful! And he has been getting lots of grandparent hugs. Mary Ann, he’ll have been in training and expecting yours!

What a handsome young man. Will and Joe have greatly enjoyed checking out his pictures. Over and over and over again…..

Once as I held Colin, I checked with Matthew: Do you ever get the feeling, while holding him, that you don’t need to be anywhere else in the world? Yes, he does too. Living for a while with these new parents, I am very pleased with them. And when Doctor Wendy told Matthew, “I am in awe of your wife,” I remarked to Judy, “There’s a lot of it going around.”

Dear Colin, You are truly beautiful and your mother looks lovely and positively radiant as she holds you. However, I have more than a few concerns about your father. You must start keeping him awake at night—-not just for an hour but for 3-4 hours. My battery is running low so I will let you know my concerns later. However please eat up alll the love they have to give you, love to all, Charlotte
