We just had our doctor’s appointment and got to hear the heartbeat again. Boy was it going pretty fast, anywhere from about 155 to 175! Seemed to normally sit in the 160s. Apparently anytime the heartrate goes up is when the baby moves, and did the baby moved several times while we were listening.
At the end of the month we are scheduled for a big anatomy survey ultrasound. That’s where we find out if the baby’s organs have all formed properly and of course where we get to learn the gender!
I did find out some bad news, apparently my blood pressure was a little high. I’ve always had great blood pressure so this was a bit of a surprise. I have to figure out how to cut back on one of my favorite things… SALT! Luckily I will have Matt watching everything I eat. ![]()

Oooohhhhhh… I like salty foods morning to midnight, at least. My “salt substitute”, potassium chloride, probably saves me a few percent, but so much salt is “built in” that it’s not easy to cut it.
I hope that’s a normal heart rate for the size; it sounds frantic but you don’t seem worried. I’m going to guess you know more than I do about it.
Thank you for keeping us up on the news.

Oh, Yes! I’m not that interested in sweets, but salty things taste very good.
I’ve found that I can make a meaningful contribution to cutting back on salt by checking the package label for the percentage of sodium in each “serving” Then I multiply that by the number of “servings” in the container to get an idea of the amount of salt I will get by the time I complete the package. I’ve been able to cut out some of the real offenders that way.
I too, use the Potassium Chloride salt substitutes. When I first started using them I noticed some difference from normal salt but I quickly got used to it.
