…and head to the Caribbean!

logo

stampThat’s right, after talking about it forever, Debra and I are finally going to go and spend some time on a boat. Some overnight time on a boat. A big boat.

We’re going to do just a quick little 5-day cruise at the end of June in the “Western” Caribbean (so named by the cruise industry, no doubt) leaving from Ft. Lauderdale and making stops at Key West and Grand Cayman on the Empress of the Seas. I’ve not spent any time in the Caribbean so I’m looking forward to. Of course not as much as I am looking forward to gorging on all things edible. And free room service!

(Please don’t point out we’ve paid for it with the price of the cruise ticket—I’m living the dream!)

Anyway, the cruise map:

Sounds wonderful! And good plan, to get a trip in before the young’un comes. Looking forward to a full review when you return; I am thinking a cruise may be in my future.

Matthew, I think you were already “living the dream” when Debra came into your life — and stayed! But a cruise and “free” room service — that’s quite something too, and I second my sister (Did I say that?), have this special time before the baby appears. I think you both will enjoy it a lot. That’s near the time of longest days, but I imagine cruise “night life” is interesting too. When will you sleep? Have fun.

Wow, well you will be following us there then. We saw the “Empress of the Sea” in Key West last week. Make sure you get to Margarettaville up Duvall street. Also, you should get up Whitehead street to the Hemmingway House. They have 20+ cats there. You might want to stop in to Irish Kevin’s and see Paul. Night time is different from the day time, and I am not sure you will be there. If you are there at sunset, do watch it at Mallory Square and make sure you see the fire dances Amy and Chris. We have met them several times and they know us by name (I think). Lot’s to see and do.

The biggest piece of advice is watch the SUN, you WILL get burned long before you think you are getting burned. Start with SPF 30 and work down, do not start at the bottom and work up, you will regret it.

Have fun, we wish we could join you. Do you need baggage carriers???

Once you experience this, you are hooked. Have fun! And don’t think that your little bundle of joy will get in the way of future cruises…I’ll babysit for a week!
