Photography Lesson 4: Focal Point
For our fourth lesson we learned about focal point. To keep your subject in focus even though they aren’t in the center of the picture you can focus on them, push the button of the camera part of the way down and then move the camera to compose your shot and then take the picture. That leaves the subject, even though off center, still in focus. I also took this picture on manual mode.

Excellent job of having subject in focus while other items are out of focus!
This also works at keeping your human subject relaxed. They don’t feel so uncomfortable having the camera always pointed directly at them. You can get things set up and then just let the camera dangle from the neck strap or look in other directions. Then you just wait for your subject to do something interesting, and you are ready to shoot.
