Has my TV gone?
Sorry, I don’t intend to make singing a normal thing when I post, it has just seemed to really be appropriate…
Matt and I are working on getting settled into the apartment. I am avoiding the kitchen area like the plague because I have no idea what I am going to do in there. I really had no idea how much stuff we have. At first I thought I had been able to visually put everything away in the space I had in my mind, but then I realized that some of those cupboards need to have food in them and not just dishes. Never thought it would happen, but the stove has turned into a storage area. For cookie sheets and baking pans of course, I do not want to accidentally bake some tupperware.
The bedroom is actually pretty much done, I have to put some clothes away, we need to fill up the bookshelf and we want to get a rug, but besides putting things up on the walls, which will most likely be the very last thing we do, the bedroom is really feeling like home. Nala and Tundra seem to prefer this room to the living space, probably because it is finished.
The office furniture is all set up in the spots it will live. Now it’s just the unpacking and putting away part to deal with in there.
The living space is sort of a black hole, in a couple ways. There isn’t any overhead lighting out there, so we need to buy lamps, etc. It’s quite comical that the only time we have to do anything in the apartment is at night and if we want to do anything out there that means working in the dark. We don’t expect the couch until the middle of the month, so for right now we are just storing some furniture and odds and ends we have decided don’t work, like the full size bed that was in our guest room in SF.
The dining area is just an extension of the kitchen in my head, so I am avoiding it too…
Now for the good news, after making us jump through some small hoops, Time Warner Cable comes on friday to hook up our cable and internet! I am sad to say that some nice soul out there is allowing me to borrow his/her wireless to work this week. I am forever in their debt for that. The phone people are also coming Friday, which is extremely important because I am already well over my cell phone minutes, and I have a couple conference calls I have to sit in on this week…can’t wait for that bill!
I suspect that since we are around this weekend, no quick trips to Michigan for a wedding like last weekend, we will end the weekend really feeling like this place is home.
Now we just have to get used to the sounds of living so close to other people.

Those halogen lamps (bowl shaped reflector on top of 6′ post that aims light at the ceiling) make it easy to flood a room with light.

Looked at your pictures. I see you already have one of those lamps. Great minds….
