    Awwwwwwww…….

We bought pumpkins but haven’t carved yet. We did put out some decorations, this week, though. What is Colin going to be for Halloween this year?

Weekend: turning rainy and cold (relatively, of course  ). 2.5 hour endurance race for Sofia on the beach–she was the only kid not wiped out by it–in fact she wanted to go again at the end of it. Lounging, otherwise. No good carving pumpkins here though. Phooey.

Forgot to mention something rather important–and pumpkin related even. Well, actually Pumpkin, with the capital ‘P’ of a proper noun. In this case the name of a pony that was born ths weekend. Sofia and Stefanie witnessed the birth of the little palomino pony Saturday morning. And when I ‘witnessed’, I mean that Sofia was on one side of the mom/babe and Stefanie was on the other. Within reach out and grab distance. Stefanie played mid-wife even and delivered the baby. Sofia petted and rubbed all over the newborn for about the first hour after she was born. Sofia decided that since it was October–a good name for a palomino would be ‘Pumpkin’.

See? We all were in the spirit of the season.

UPDATE: The pumpkin is dead. Repeat: the pumpkin is DEAD.

I did not remember how quickly they get all rotten and squishy and gross! We had to say goodbye to Melvin the Pumpkin (to whom Colin said good morning every day since Melvin was “born”) today. Very sad.

Melvin probably had to stay in your warm condo. Right? Our pumpkins were often housed on the front porch looking through the window. That was a much cooler climate and therefore longer life.

Judy, did we ever NAME a pumpkin?

One year, I remember, I “drew” a pumpkin, complete with a flashing tooth, on the Commodore 64. It might have “died” when I turned off the computer, but at least it wasn’t smelly. Or named, as I recall.

    I enjoy the picture.

Oooh … sounds like an untold story. Can it be told?

Because Enquiring Minds Want to Know.
