Slobber Welcomes Colin to Iowa

Back in Earley July (yes, pun intended), Deb, Colin and I went out to Iowa to visit with Grandma Reed again and introduce Colin to some cousins, some grandparents, some great-grandparents, and one very interested dog. It seems Toby thought Colin smelled pretty good—and even wanted a taste. Colin has been around a big dog before, but not one as, errrr, “friendly” as Toby. I love the look on his face.

In any event, we had a lot of fun relaxing and visiting with family in Iowa. I’m going to split the trip up into a couple of different posts, bust one of the first things Uncle Matt had to do was clown around with his nephews (thanks, Grandpa Carl, for taking the fun picture!) on the way to play 6 or 7 holes of golf.

Despite growing up in Iowa inches from a corn field, and a father who works at John Deere, I’m (not-so-)secretly gratified to see that they are big gadget freaks like their Uncle. Here the twins are playing wtih Uncle Matt and Aunt Debra’s BlackBerries. (I was really impressed with the fact that they read all the directions to the card game they were playing. I’ve never even done that! In any case, I didn’t have to teach them how to play—they had it all figured out by the time I got around to asking if it was working out.)

ADDENDUM: Ooops. I missed this (per Aunt Suzy’s note). I like it. Not sure how it slipped through.

I think you’re Internet is just slow in Iowa. The second “B” must have still been transmitting. I see it there plain as day.

I don’t have one of Katie?!?! Was it from your camera or your dad’s?

I’m glad you found one of Katie, but did it really have to be one that *I* was in too???

Yep, same SlowBer transmission to Mich-again. I enjoyed these pictures. Yes, there *has* to be one of AuntSuzy, an Aunt after all and Mom to the cousins and … so much else.

Uncle Mark asked me to post a note regarding your comments about gadgets and technology and John Deere.

Did you know that there are 18 computers in a tractor??

So don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because it’s a tractor doesn’t mean it isn’t just a great big gadget of it’s own…

Wow. 18 computers. I guess that explains where the gadget freakishness comes from!
