HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

We had a rather nice one here on the East Coast. At least that’s what Matt tells me.

It was a weekend of firsts. Colin starting sleeping through the night to both Mommy and Daddy’s delight. He has learned a new sound and woke Daddy up on Saturday morning by saying Da-da-da-da-da. He spent the rest of the weekend practicing his new sound.

We drove down to The Wildwoods for Father’s Day, where we stayed at the lovely Pan American Hotel. Colin got to dip his toes in the Atlantic Ocean for the very first time and had his first mouthful of sand. The sand seemed pretty fun, but the ocean was definitely too cold for his taste.

We then spent the rest of the evening walking the boardwalk and having lobster tails and steak, a perfect Father’s Day dinner.

Father’s Day was finished off with a nice cozy nap on the couch.

Thanks mommy and Colin. I did have a great time. I especially love the photos of Colin’s “sand goatee” and how well his lil’ teeth show up with his big open mouth smiles. Colin just adored being on vacation!

This was the first Father’s Day where I could report that ALL of my sons are very good fathers — attentive, creative, caring. I got to see the two local ones, so THIS is great to get a report from oceanside.

I’ve heard a — What? Rural Legend? — that a kid has to eat “a peck of dirt” to grow up. (That’s 1/4 bushel, or 2 gallons, or 7.6 liters.) I just wondered how Colin is doing on that. I have not checked this legend with a doctor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peck : OK, OK, it’s “before you die”. Well, then, what’s the hurry? And does sand count? And did he …

Thanks for posting the pictures and story, Deb. It’s a great start to my week.

Why am I not getting the notifications about all of these posts? These pictures are wonderful! I’m so glad you had a nice Father’s Day. I’ve been trying to decide which is my favorite picture. I don’t think I can. His face is so expressive — what a cutie!
