Truthiness
Both Debra and I quite enjoyed the “truthiness” of the Stephen Colbert “roast” of President Bush—and to a far lesser extent the media establishment—at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner.
The best link I’ve seen on this so far is here. There is countless reams of discussion about it in the blogosphere, but the general media has largely chosen to ignore it. The video is amazing to watch (if somewhat lengthy)…
I was amused that you titled this “truthiness” because I had just watched a 60 Minutes piece on Stephen Colbert. Almost made me wish I had cable to see some of his stuff. I also like why he said he did not let his kids watch his show. I will try to watch the roast tomorrow at school (with the faster connection). In the same 60 Minutes show, Ed B. did a piece on the DaVinci Code thing. Turns out the secret society that plays a central role in the book is most likely a hoax. Manufactured history. I do not usually watch 60 Minutes, but this past Sunday was very good.
Hey, we watched the live, original broadcast while at a motel. We did not watch the two scheduled replays of the event.
Most of what Colbert said I understood the reference. And some references I had no idea what he was talking about.
Please explain the “chase” video clip. This I didn’t “get” at all. I much preferred his commentary prior to the video.
