Well, thanks to J.K. Rowling I’m going to be busy all day July 16th. The 6th book is FINALLY here! And it’s over 200 pages shorter than the 5th book, which I just finished re-reading last night to make sure I was up to date on where life stands with Harry. Being 200 pages shorter I should be able to finish the book in a day, as opposed to a day and a half like the 5th book.
Here’s a countdown I stole from another site, so we can all stay informed on when the book is going to be out!

You are such a geek!
I love that about you.

I live with a lady who has read several Harry Potter books (and by the way, if any worry-warts ask, I haven’t observed any warping of her faith), but I haven’t yet seen her show excitement for a countdown. We’re leaving early the (Let’s see — which day is it?) SIXTEENTH, on the way to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, to return late August 3rd. OK, we have a countdown, too, just not the same one.
So many great stories are ONE story — the apparently-little person has a part to play in the great epic. Sons, thank you for taking me to see movies for Father’s Day, including WILLOW. I guess each of us has felt like a little person sometimes, and these stories hint at possibilities for each of us.
My thanks to author John Eldredge for that understanding of many stories.
Oh, by the way, HI, Deb. Only one day?

I’m so jealous, Deb! I too have been following the countdown, and my copy will be delivered from Amazon on the 16th, but I’m sure it will take me a little longer to read it…unless I run away from home.
Jake doesn’t appreciate Harry Potter quite yet. I did read part of the 5th book to him, as I was refreshing, but it took me a whole week to get through it this time. The next movie is due to come out in November, so hopefully you will get a chance to see it before Colin arrives.
Yes, Matt…I’m a geek too!

I have a longarm quilters meeting on Saturday (in Missouri, so it’s quite a ways a way).
I am completely torn between wanting to go to the meeting and wanting to stay home to wait for my copy to be delivered (thanks Matt and Deb for my b-day present:smile:), so I can spend the day reading.
How pathetic is that?
Don’t answer, that was a rhetorical question.

Suzanne, I assume that “longarm” is a quilting device, rather than a physical description of the quilters involved, which would make that meeting discriminatory. Oh, go to the meeting — it won’t keep. Besides, the quilting thing is part of your excellent individuality.
Admittedly, that advice is from someone who hasn’t ever [eyes darting furtively in all directions] read a Harry Potter book.
Not even a movie, can ya believe it?!

O.K. so I FINALLY got round to starting the latest book yesterday. Read 100 pages of it last night - easy to read, isn’t it?
Am I going to be surprised? Disappointed? Bored?
I’m impressed that, for a children’s book, the author uses adult language (e.g. she describes a chimney as ‘an admonitory finger’). No wonder people say she’s done so much for literacy-she’s really testing her audience! Good for you, Jo!
